Assessments for Registration as a Nurse in Canada

Before applying for a credential assessment, please review the requirements for the regulatory body in province or territory in which you intend to apply for registration. 

ICAS is an approved provider of credential assessment services for individuals applying for registration with:

BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) through Inspire Global Assessments (click for more information)

For an assessment for the purposes of registration with BCCNM, you must select the following services:

• General Assessment Report
• Transmission of Report and Documents to Inspire Global Assessments in the list of Recipients with specific requirements
• Inspire Global Assessments requires that the report be prepared on the basis of official documents.  When finalizing your application, you must select OFFICIAL DOCUMENTS.

College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) (click for more information)

For an assessment for the purposes of registration with CRNA, you must select the following services:

• General Assessment Report
• Transmission of Report and Documents to the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) in the list of Recipients with specific requirements
• CRNA requires that the report be prepared on the basis of official documents.  When finalizing your application, you must select OFFICIAL DOCUMENTS.

College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) (click for more information)

For an assessment for the purposes of registration with CNO, you must select the following services:

• General Assessment Report
• Transmission of Report and Documents to the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) in the list of Recipients with specific requirements
• CNO requires that the report be prepared on the basis of official documents.  When finalizing your application, you must select OFFICIAL DOCUMENTS.

National Nursing Assessment Service (NNAS) (click for more information)

For an assessment for the purposes of registration with NNAS, you must select the following services:

• Postsecondary Comprehensive Assessment Report
• Transmission of Report and Documents to the National Nursing Assessment Service (NNAS) in the list of Recipients with specific requirements. NNAS requires that ICAS send your report and documents to: National Nursing Assessment Service, Post Office Box 8658, Philadelphia, PA, 19101-8658, USA
• NNAS requires that the report be prepared on the basis of official documents. When finalizing your application, you must select OFFICIAL DOCUMENTS.

Newfoundland and Labrador College of Nurses (NL College of Nurses) (click for more information)

For an assessment for the purposes of registration with NL College of Nurses, you must select the following services:

• General Assessment Report
• Transmission of Report and Documents to Newfoundland and Labrador College of Nurses (NL College of Nurses) in the list of Recipients with specific requirements
• NL College of Nurses requires that the report be prepared on the basis of official documents. When finalizing your application, you must select OFFICIAL DOCUMENTS.

Application Procedures

(NOTE: If you have already received an ICAS Assessment Report, please contact us at info@icascanada.ca for information on how to apply to have it sent to the regulatory body)

1. Save or print this page.
2. Click “Apply Now” located below.
3. Select “Sign up” to create an account. You will then receive an account activation email. Click on the link in the email to activate your account.
4. Sign into your account and complete the application by:
   • Client Information - enter your personal information
   • Education History - Next enter in the details of your education history
   • Assessment Reports and Services – Click the “Select” button under Education, Employment and Licensure
     • Select type of Assessment Report – Select the type of assessment report required by the regulatory body to which you are applying (see above). Note: if you are applying to more than one regulatory body and the type of report they each require is different, contact us at info@icascanada.ca for more information.
     • Purpose of the assessment – Select “Professional Licensure”
   • Add Delivery Address – Enter your residential address to which your copy of the assessment report is to be sent. Do not enter the regulatory bodies address.
   • Select the regulatory body/bodies to which you would like your report and documents to be sent (or transmitted)
   • Delivery Address(es) – on this page you can review the address you provided and additional recipients you have selected. You can also add any other recipients that you would like your report to go to.
   • Which credentials would you like to submit? – select the education credential(s) that you would like to submit for assessment. Once selected the documentation requirements will be displayed and you will have to select Official. You can review the country specific document requirements now by selecting the country of your education here.
   • Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy pages – Please ensure you read the information and then you must click and accept on these pages
   • Review and Confirm Your Request – Review the application details and then click “Pay”
   • Checkout – Provide payment details and complete payment
5. Once you have successfully submitted the payment your application is complete. You will receive a Confirmation Email
6. Contact the authority/institution which awarded your nursing qualification(s) and request to have official documents sent directly to ICAS.
