News and Information

ICAS has been designated by the Minister of Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism to provide educational credential assessments for individuals applying for immigration to Canada as a Federal Skilled Worker (FSW).  ICAS has a separate application process for FSW applicants.  Please click here to learn more.

Our current processing time for applicants (not including FSW applicants) is approximately 6 weeks.  Actual processing time depends on the volume of applications received on a given day and the nature of the qualifications submitted for assessment.  Rush services are not available at this time.  In most cases, a General Assessment Report is completed and sent more quickly than any other type of Assessment Report.

General Assessment Report

Our most popular type of report (also known as a document-by-document assessment).

The General Assessment Report describes the education completed and suggests the comparable level in Ontario/Canada for each credential.  This type of report is the one most commonly required by employers and immigration officials.

Secondary School Comprehensive Assessment Report

The Secondary School Comprehensive Assessment Report describes the education completed outside Canada at a level comparable to the senior secondary school level in Ontario and suggests the comparable level in Ontario.  This report also provides a list of all courses/subjects completed at a level comparable to the grade 12 level in Ontario with the comparable credit values and grades.

This type of report may be suitable if you are applying for further education.

Postsecondary Comprehensive Assessment Report (also known as a postsecondary course-by-course assessment)

The Postsecondary Comprehensive Assessment Report describes the postsecondary education completed, suggests the comparable level in Ontario/Canada for each credential and provides a list of courses/subjects completed with both the comparable credit value and grade.

This type of report is most commonly requested by those applying to postsecondary institutions who need to provide evidence of specific postsecondary courses.

Note: If you are unsure which type of Assessment Report would be best for you, we would suggest that you request a General Assessment Report.  If you later find that you require a Secondary School or Postsecondary Comprehensive Assessment Report, you can request an upgrade.

Secondary and Postsecondary Comprehensive Assessment Report

The Secondary and Postsecondary Comprehensive Assessment Report describes the education completed, suggests the comparable level in Ontario/Canada for each credential and provides lists of senior secondary and postsecondary courses/subjects completed with the comparable credit values and grades.

Updates (to existing reports)

If you have already received an ICAS Assessment Report, you can add a qualification to your report or upgrade your General Report to a Secondary School or Postsecondary Comprehensive Assessment Report.  If your file is less than two years old, there is no need to resubmit your documentation.  Simply complete the application form and provide your file number where indicated.

Professional Registration

ICAS prepares Catalogue-Match Assessment Reports for individuals applying for registration with the College of Dental Technologists of Ontario  and the Ontario Association of Veterinary Technicians.  Please see the Application and Payment Forms section for more information.

Other Services

The following services can be added to your Assessment Report:

Rush Service
Information about our current processing time is available on our website (Please see News and Information).  The processing time for Assessment Reports begins after all required documents are received in our office.  Three-day rush service is available for an additional fee.  During peak times, rush service may not be available.  Please call or e-mail to confirm availability.

Courier
Delivery is available by courier for your Assessment Report. If you have submitted original documents, we would suggest that you select courier service because original documents are returned with the Assessment Report. Delivery is next business-day to most Canadian cities (delivery times vary to US and international destinations).

Extra Originals
The assessment fee includes one original Assessment Report.  Extra originals may be requested for a small fee.

If your report was issued more than two years ago, you will be required to resubmit your documents and a file re-activation fee will apply.  Please contact ICAS for details.

Additional Report for the USA
Two reports will be issued (one that compares your education to the Ontario/Canadian system and one that compares it to the US system).

Please note that ICAS will only prepare a US Report for applicants currently living in Canada.  Applicants who live outside Canada should contact an American agency such as Educational Credential Evaluators.

Reports in both English and French
Two reports will be issued (one in English and one in French).  Please note that this option is only available if documents are provided in both English and French.
