Terms & Conditions

  1. ICAS assessments are based on policies and procedures established by its Management Committee.  As a member of the Alliance of Credential Evaluation Services of Canada, ICAS abides by the principles outlined in the General Guiding Principles for Good Practice in Credential Assessment and the Recommendation on Criteria and Procedures for the Assessment of Foreign Qualifications.
  2. ICAS Assessment Reports are advisory in nature and are not binding on any employer, educational institution, organization or third party.  ICAS Assessment Reports do not replace or override assessments required by regulatory bodies, professional associations, educational institutions or other organizations.
  3. ICAS Assessment Reports include only formal education completed at appropriately recognized institutions.  ICAS does not provide assessments of professional examinations, in-service professional development or work experience.  ICAS does not provide assessment of graduate degrees in clinical medicine.
  4. If the documents submitted do not indicate the weighting factor for each course completed, no credits will appear in the assessment report.  If the documents submitted do not indicate a grade for each course, no grades will appear in the assessment report.  If insufficient information has been provided to prepare a Postsecondary Comprehensive Assessment Report or a Secondary School Comprehensive Assessment Report, a General Assessment Report will be prepared and an appropriate refund issued.
  5. If additional information is required to prepare an Assessment Report, you will be notified in writing. 
  6. ICAS reserves the right to request original documents or to contact educational and governmental institutions and agencies for additional information and/or verification of the authenticity of the credentials submitted.  By submitting your application for an ICAS Assessment Report you are hereby deemed to have consented to ICAS contacting educational and governmental institutions and agencies for additional information and/or verification of the authenticity of the credentials submitted.  Any fees associated with the receipt of this information are the responsibility of the applicant.
  7. ICAS fees are non-refundable with the exception of overpayment.
  8. It is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure that the ICAS Assessment Report will be accepted for the intended purpose.
  9. ICAS is not liable for claims, damages or demands of any nature or kind whatsoever arising from the use or misuse of the ICAS Assessment Report, for any errors in the ICAS Assessment Report arising from incorrect, incomplete or untrue information, from delays arising from insufficient information or other processing delays or for the improper handling or loss of or damage to educational documents (“Claims”).  The applicant herby releases ICAS from any such Claims and agrees to indemnify and save harmless ICAS from any such Claims asserted by any third party against ICAS.
  10. ICAS handles all requests for assessment in the order in which complete documentation is received in our office.  Information about current processing times is available on our website.  During peak periods additional processing time may be required. 
  11. Original documents are returned with the completed ICAS Assessment Report.  If you submit original documents, ICAS suggests that you also request courier service to facilitate their safe return.  If you would like your documents returned by regular mail, please provide written authorization.
  12. False documents are those that do not accurately reflect your academic record.  If ICAS determines that you have submitted false documents, no assessment of any type will be provided at any time.  No refund will be issued and your documents will not be returned.
  13. ICAS collects, uses and discloses your non-public personal information to provide to you assessments of educational credentials.  ICAS gathers non-public personal information about you from your application and from educational and governmental institutions and agencies for the purpose of verification of the authenticity of the credentials submitted and for preparation of the ICAS Assessment Report. Personal information collected is used only for preparing your ICAS Assessment Report. No personal information is released to a third party without your written consent, save and except if ICAS determines that you have submitted false documents ICAS may notify government and non-government agencies and associations and by submitting your application for an ICAS Assessment Report you are hereby deemed to have consented to ICAS releasing your non-public personal information government and non-government agencies and associations where ICAS determines that you have submitted false documents. ICAS restricts access to your personal information to only those employees who need to know the personal information to prepare and provide the ICAS Assessment Report to you.  ICAS maintains high standards of physical, electronic and procedural safeguards to guard your non-public personal information.  Detailed information about our Privacy Policy is outlined on our website.
  14. To protect your privacy and to minimize miscommunications, ICAS requires that all requests for an ICAS Assessment Report or changes to an application or Assessment Report be submitted in writing by e-mail, fax or mail.
