General Report

Our most popular type of report (also known as a document-by-document assessment).

The General Report describes the education completed and suggests the Ontario/Canadian equivalent for each credential.  This type of report is the one most commonly required by employers and immigration officials.

Detailed Assessment Report

  • Detailed Type A (credits)
  • Detailed Type B (grades)

Just like the General Report, the Detailed Report describes the education completed and suggests the Ontario/Canadian equivalent for each credential.  The Detailed Report also includes a list of courses/subjects completed and for each, gives either the equivalent credit value or grade.

This type of report is most commonly requested by individuals applying to specific educational programs and those who require evidence of completion of particular courses.

Comprehensive Report (also known as a course-by-course assessment)

The Comprehensive Report describes the education completed, suggests the Ontario/Canadian equivalent for each credential and provides a list of courses/subjects completed with both the equivalent credit value and grade.

This type of report is most commonly requested by those applying to postsecondary institutions.

Note: If you are unsure which type of Assessment Report would be best for you, we would suggest that you request a General Report.  If you later find that you require a Detailed or Comprehensive Report, you can request an upgrade for a small fee.

If insufficient information has been provided for the report requested, the next available report will be prepared and an appropriate refund issued.  For example, if a Detailed Report Type A has been requested but there is not sufficient information, a Detailed Report Type B will be issued.  If neither Detailed Report can be prepared, a General Report will be forwarded and an appropriate refund issued.

Upgrades (to existing reports)

If you have already received an ICAS Assessment Report you can upgrade your report to a Detailed or Comprehensive Assessment Report or you can add a qualification to your existing report.  If your file is less than two years old, there is no need to resubmit your documentation.  Simply complete the application form and provide your file number where indicated.

Professional Registration

ICAS prepares Catalogue-Match Assessment Reports for individuals applying for registration with the College of Dental Technologists of Ontario  and the Ontario Association of Veterinary Technicians.  Please see the Application and Payment Forms section for more information.

Other Services

The following services can be added to your Assessment Report:

Rush Service
The normal processing time for Assessment Reports is ten business days.  Rush services (24 hour and 3-day) are available for an additional fee.  During peak times, rush services may not be available.  Please call to confirm availability. Please also note that the rush fee is non-refundable.

Courier
Delivery is available by courier for your Assessment Report. If you have submitted original documents, we would suggest that you select courier service as documents are returned with the Assessment Report. Delivery is next business-day to most Canadian cities (delivery times vary to US and international destinations).

Fax
A copy of the assessment is sent by fax to you or to a third party.  The original report is sent by regular mail.

Extra Originals
The assessment fee includes one copy of the Assessment Report.  Extra originals may be requested for a small fee.

If your report was issued more than two years ago, additional information or documents may be required.  Please contact ICAS for details.

Reports for Canada and the USA
Two reports will be issued (one that compares your education to the Canadian system and one that compares it to the US system).

Please note that, in most cases, applicants will be required to submit original document or official documents issued directly to ICAS by the institution.

Reports in English and French
Two reports will be issued (one in English and one in French).  Please note that this option is only available if documents are provided in both English and French.
