Assessment Reports
ICAS prepares Assessment Reports that describe the education completed outside Canada and provide the comparable level of education here. Assessments are prepared for all levels of education – secondary, postsecondary and technical.
Reports can be used for:
Services Available
The General Report describes the education completed and suggests the Ontario/Canadian equivalent for each credential. This type of report is the one most commonly required by employers and immigration officials.
Just like the General Report, the Detailed Report describes the education completed and suggests the Ontario/Canadian equivalent for each credential. The Detailed Report also includes a list of courses/subjects completed and for each, gives either the equivalent credit value or grade.
This type of report is most commonly requested by individuals applying to specific educational programs and those who require evidence of completion of particular courses.
Comprehensive Report (also known as a course-by-course assessment)
The Comprehensive Report describes the education completed, suggests the Ontario/Canadian equivalent for each credential and provides a list of courses/subjects completed with both the equivalent credit value and grade.
This type of report is most commonly requested by those applying to postsecondary institutions.
Note: If you are unsure which type of Assessment Report would be best for you, we would suggest that you request a General Report. If you later find that you require a Detailed or Comprehensive Report, you can request an upgrade for a small fee.
If insufficient information has been provided for the report requested, the next available report will be prepared and an appropriate refund issued. For example, if a Detailed Report Type A has been requested but there is not sufficient information, a Detailed Report Type B will be issued. If neither Detailed Report can be prepared, a General Report will be forwarded and an appropriate refund issued.
Upgrades (to existing reports)
If you have already received an ICAS Assessment Report you can upgrade your report to a Detailed or Comprehensive Assessment Report or you can add a qualification to your existing report. If your file is less than two years old, there is no need to resubmit your documentation. Simply complete the application form and provide your file number where indicated.
ICAS prepares Catalogue-Match Assessment Reports for individuals applying for registration with the College of Dental Technologists of Ontario and the Ontario Association of Veterinary Technicians. Please see the Application and Payment Forms section for more information.
